The company is responsible for products of FURUKAWA Construction and Mining Machinery for both the domestic and world markets.
The one and a quarter century old history of FURUKAWA goes back to 1875, when founder-owner FURUKAWA Ichibei opened a copper mine at Asakura.
FURUKAWA experience with machinery dates back to 1887, a decade after the founding, when the first air operated impact tool replaced hammer and chisel drilling.
On the 125th anniversary of FURUKAWA, Furukawa Machinery Sales Company took its first step in the machinery field after consolidating Furukawa Rock Drill Sales Company, Furukawa Construction Machinery Sales Company.
We entered the impact tool field in 1887 to repair and build drills for our own Ashio Copper Mine. All the handheld mining machinery at the time was imported, and too heavy for the average Japanese. Development and improvement have never stopped since. Today we build hydraulic breakers, crawler drills, tunnel drilling jumbos as well as demolition crushers.
Development of a small crawler loader in 1962 put Furukawa into the position of a construction equipment manufacturer. Products are operated at many different job locations around the world. Today we build 30 and 300 series wheel loaders.
A century long target of Furukawa has been dependability. We have spent a great amount of time and effort to obtain a reputation for dependability from every one of our customers. At the very front of a four-lane road tunnel construction site, a tunnel drilling jumbo attacks the tough rock to open up a new passage of the highway. A crawler drill is working at quarry site to produce rocks for construction. A wheel loader loads rock onto trucks. A hydraulic breaker and crusher breaks large rocks and demolishes man made buildings. Near and far, there are Furukawa products working everywhere. Our challenge for dependable products never stops.
